Meridian Dry Rosé Harvest Notes

The 2006 vintage produced grapes of excellent quality and concentration. The rainy winter season started out slowly, but well-timed storms from January though May provided the perfect amount of rain for the soil. This natural moisture allowed the vines to draw nutrients from the soil, and promoted healthy, balanced vines throughout the growing season. After budbreak, spring and summer were relatively cool. Welcome heat spells in July and August helped the grapes achieve ripeness of flavors, sugars and tannins translating to wines with fresh fruit aromas and flavors.

Meridian Dry Rosé Tasting Notes
Our 2006 California Rosé is sourced from Paso Robles, and made from the three best known Rhone varietals: Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre. The Syrah delivers rich fruit and structure, while the Grenache provides softness in the mouth. Winemaker Lee Miyamura adds Mourvedre to spice things up. The grapes were harvested early in the morning to preserve the natural acidity and flavor of the fruit. They were brought into the winery, gently de-stemmed and then transferred to a stainless steel tank to ferment. A portion of this wine is a saignée, a process used to make rose by drawing pink-colored juice off of fermenting red grapes. The rest of the blend was fermented on the skins until about one third dryness, and then pressed off and finished with a cold fermentation.
This wine is bursting with strawberry, cherry and citrus notes. Light-bodied and refreshing with lively acidity, there is delicious watermelon and tart cherry fruit on the palate. It’s the perfect complement to a sunny day on the porch, and pairs well with everything from Caesar salad to barbeque chicken.
